Plumbing help!! Toilet water not coming up except when i flush and nearly overflows?

Plumbing help!! Toilet water not coming up except when i flush and nearly overflows?I just got a brand new toilet a few days ago and it was working fine until earlier. When I tried to flush it water came down but it didnt flush and i tried again and more water came down and nearly overflowed. Then it just went down very slowly until no water remained, leaving all the paper and everything at the bottom of the toilet. This is the only bathroom in my apt. and its a big problem.. I hope to try and get my plumber who isntalled it tomm. morning but i need help as soon as possible thx!!

ring the place where you got it from and let them know what’s happened. that’s important as there might be other people out there with the same problem. i guess you will have to wait for your plumber in the meantime. sorry!

Go to a local store and pick up a plunger. they are cheap. Probably $ 5.00 or less plunge the toilet and it should clear the blockage. once you have the plunger flush it an clear it and it should work ok. Good luck

My toilet bowl does not fill up far enough on a new toilet.?I just purchased a crane plumbing toilet, and it does not fill up the bowl to a level I think is right. It only fills to about 1/2 inch over the drain. and leaves about 11 inches dry. The tank fills up fine and I adjusted the float to fill the tank within 1/2 inch of the overflow. I am at a loss to what to do next. Any suggestions appreciated. tia
Its not the tank that is the problem as far as I can tell. Its The bowl. the lower section of the toilet. I bought them together at lowes as a toilet-to-go set. Everything was including even the wax ring. most toilet bowls fill up deep enough to allow some seperation from the bottom of the bowl. But this one has about a 5 inch pool of water roughly an inch deep in the bottom. it doesnt seem deep enough or big enough to me. So far Ive tried raising the float hight almost to the point of overflow. there is also another adj screw that adjusts the pressure that didnt help either. I also tried manually filling the bowl to see if it just needed that extra boost, to no avail. If anyone has any other ideas to get the bowl to fill up deeper, please let me know. thanks again

I just thought of something…did you buy the tank and bowl together or separate? maybe the tank is for a different sized bowl

Check the ballast.

Ok, if you adjusted the float, and it still doesnt work, then its time for a new float!

Just go to the store where you bought it and tell them what the problem is, (If you just installed it, see if they will give you the parts for free!! Or, contact the place that manufactored it, online, and see what they can do for you).

You should get satisfaction one way or another…

Of course, if you adjusted the float “up”, then it should work..hmmm

Does the water keep running? Does it shut off at 1/2 inch from the bottom? (I never saw a float that LOW, that would shut off, so, its amazing to me…

Jiggle that float up and down and see if the water will come in, (I hate to say, take it apart, if your not mecanically inclined, or you may void the warranty and the toilet warranty, but it may only be a simple thing too… Let the store you bought it from know and see what they will do for you)…

I wish you well..

Jesse

    maybe its blocked already.

    Use a plunger.

  3. jlambert94 says:

Plungers do help some but a toilet auger is always the best way to go. You can pick up a cheap one for about $ 10. Just run it through the toilet rotating the snake as you go by spinning the handle. Be careful and don’t scratch the toilet with the snake. As it sounds is its just stopped up and your plumber will prob charge you to unstop it where it was working fine for a few days. If the toilet isn’t the only thing stopped up or you can here a gurgle in the sink or the tub then a section of your mainline is stopped up. Once you get it unstopped flush plenty of water several times to move the blockage out the line.

This is because of the Federal Government mandate that all toilets made after a certain date have to use 1.6 gallons per flush. I’ve replaced toilets that residents have broken and they have complained bitterly that the new ones don’t flush right. I tell them to hold down on the handle and that will allow more water to flush. Barring that you can always replace the insides of the tank with parts from a conventional toilet from a home center. The parts are cheap compared to the peace of mind of having a decent working toilet. The water level might be too low as well and there should be an adjustment for that, but I’ve never had a new one that had the water level too low from the factory. Hope this helps.
